DETOX ICE TEA: EP 03

We all drink too many sugary drinks, including myself cos God knows I have a serious Ribena addiction. But sugar is really bad for us, so it’s always good to look for alternatives to sugary drinks. This ice tea is a great drink that will make you not miss sugar.

Traditionally ice tea is made with regular tea, but I’m using green tea. Green tea has a lot of benefits, it’s full of antioxidants, can help to lower blood pressure. It can keep blood sugar stable in people with diabetes.

I’m using lemons because the list of health benefits of lemons is endless there like a little pharmacy full of natural medicine. vitamin C, vitamin B6, vitamin A, vitamin E, folate, niacin thiamine, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, copper, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc, phosphorus and protein.

I use mint not only for the flavor but also mint helps to promote digestive functioning.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 litres of hot water

  • 2 tea bags of green tea

  • The rind and juice of 5 lemons

  • A tablespoon of honey

  • Half a cup of mint leaves

  • 3 cups of ice cubes

Method:

  • Put tea bags and lemon rind in a large jug

  • Pour hot water into jug and honey and put aside until it has completely cooled

  • Once cooled add the mint leaves, the lemon juice and ice and stir well

  • Serve in a glass of ice and enjoy
