Grilled Pineapple Dessert


I have a serious sweet tooth and after a meal I am always left craving something sweet. This recipe is recipe is a perfect sweet treat to have after a meal that will not leave you feeling guilty.

Greek Yogurt: Greek yogurt has a thicker texture than regular yogurt, it also is lower carbohydrates and sugar, and has more protein the regular yogurt. It is also full of probiotics and potassium which can help to balance out sodium. Greek yogurt also has a creamy texture that makes it perfect for dessert.

Pineapple: pineapple is full of vitamin C; vitamin C is powerful antioxidant that will provide your body with protection against free radicals. Vitamin C is also vital for the function of the immune system and can protect against flue and cold. Pineapple is also a rich source of bromelain which is a compound that can help to promote digestive health and has anti-inflammatory properties. In addition to bromelain, pineapple is a good source of thiamin, a B vitamin that acts as a cofactor in enzymatic reactions central to energy production.

Honey: Honey contains flavonoids, antioxidants which help reduce the risk of some cancers and heart disease. Honey can help to reduce ulcers and other gastrointestinal disorders and has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Cinnamon: Cinnamon can lower blood sugar levels, reduce heart disease risk factors, relieve arthritis pain, fight infections and viruses and is full of antioxidants.

Hazelnuts: Hazelnuts are rich in unsaturated fats (mostly oleic acid), high in magnesium, calcium and vitamins B and E. Hazelnuts are good for your heart, help reduce the risk of cancer, and aid in muscle, skin, bone, joint and digestive health.

Ingredients

  • 1 small pineapple

  • 500ml of Greek yogurt

  • ¼ cup of honey

  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon

  • 100g of hazelnuts

Method

  1. Chop the pineapple into 8 long pieces

  2. Place the pineapple on a grill for 3 mins

  3. In a small bowl, mix together honey and cinnamon

  4. When the pineapples are done, place them on a plate and cover with the Greek yogurt then drizzle with the honey mix, and enjoy.
